Harry Avery's Castle



Although traditionally associated with Henry Aimbreidh O'Neill who died in 1392 it is not certain whether this Gaelic stronghold dates from the 14th or 15th century. It is an unusual and interesting structure and especially important in relation to the study of Irish Medieval life prior to the plantation period.The castle consisted of a two-storey rectangular construction fronted by D-shaped twin towers which remain today.
